| Susan E. Hamilton, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Ashburn, Virginia. She received her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London, England, where she worked as a research psychologist. Her career has included clinical practice and consultation, university teaching, training development, and administration. For seven years Dr. Hamilton directed the American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Program and supervised mental health service delivery to disasters of all types, including the catastrophic events of September 11, 2001and Hurricane Katrina. She has worked closely with government and non-government agencies and the national mental health associations. Known nationally and internationally as a subject matter expert in the areas of trauma and prevention of post-traumatic stress disorder, she serves on the Advisory Board of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, the Advisory Committees of America’s Health Together and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs. Dr. Hamilton has published in journals and books.
