Michael Cobb began serving in law enforcement in 1982, retiring in 2020 from a command position with the Richland, WA Police Department. The focus of his career has been assigned to, and supporting, Field Operations and tactical teams. He was a member of the Tri-City Regional SWAT team from 1985 to 2017, Incident Commander of the regional bomb squad and served as a K-9 handler for 9 years. Capt. Cobb has commanded Field Operations, Support Operations, Administrative Operations, Benton County Emergency Services, and served as Interim Chief of Police for two different agencies. As a past President of the Washington State Tactical Officers Association (WSTOA), Mike coordinated CISM services for the WSTOA and continues to assist specialty units across North America. A tenured faculty member for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, he is an approved international instructor for CISM: Group Crisis Intervention, Advanced Group Crisis Intervention, Peer Support/Assisting Individuals in Crisis, Law Enforcement Perspectives for CISM Enhancement and Psychological Body Armor. Capt. Cobb is a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress, holds a certification in CISM from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and is a Diplomate member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
