Suicide Awareness: An Introduction for Crisis Responders – Online Course

This is a two-week, self-paced course, July 8-19, 2019.

The ability to recognize and effectively intervene with suicidal individuals is one of the most challenging aspects of crisis intervention. This course is recommended for those without formal mental health training. The course is designed to increase awareness of suicide, and equip participants with information and basic skills to respond to a person considering suicide. Discussions, demonstrations, and scenarios will be used to facilitate learning. This is an introductory level course.  Full Course Description

  • This two week self-paced online course will run July 8-19, 2019.
  • Orientation will be available to review as soon as you register for this course.
  • 14 PDHs for EAPs; 14 Contact Hours for NAADAC; 1.4 General CEUs from UMBC Training Centers
  • $275.00 for ICISF members; $350.00 for non-members.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable.

Instructor: Michelle Warshauer

Michelle has worked at the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation for 9 years and is an ICISF Approved Instructor.  Michelle holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling, and is a National Certified Counselor.  She is on the faculty of the local community college, where she teaches Psychology and Lifespan Development.  Michelle has worked with the juvenile justice system and in the public school system.  She has experience with suicidal teens and volunteers with veterans groups.  Michelle also does Suicide Awareness outreach programs with the military community.
