Neel, PsyD, Monica

Monica Neel, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with 20 years of professional experience in direct clinical care, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and professional management, administration, and training in the higher education sector.

Dr. Neel obtained her doctoral degree from the Loyola University of Maryland which included a pre-doctoral internship at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Perryville, MD and subsequent post-doctoral fellowship through the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine with specific appointment to the Baltimore Regional Burn Center.

Dr. Neel spent over 10 years of her career in college counseling.  In her role as director of a college student counseling center, Dr. Neel made efforts to foster and nurture collaborative partnerships with various campus departments with the goal of expanding the reach of mental health prevention, promotion, and postvention to best serve the campus community.  Her work is informed by these multidisciplinary collaborations, as well as a strong foundation in trauma and critical incident stress management models.

In addition to training and supervising graduate students and early-career mental health clinicians, Dr. Neel enjoys training and collaborating with non-mental health personnel to support effective integration of principles of psychology into their professional arena.
