Online Course Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Asynchronous means that this online course is self-paced and runs 24 hours a day for 30 days from the day that you register for the course.  This online course is taught without an instructor. 

Cohort means this online course is guided by an instructor and there is student interaction throughout the content and discussions.

No, there is no refund, but you can transfer to the next available online course for a $50.00 transfer fee.  Please review our Online Course Terms & Conditions page for more information.

No, our online courses have been developed for individual participation. 

For our 7 contact hour online courses, it should take each individual 7 hours to complete.  For our 14 contact hour online courses, it should take each individual 14 hours to complete.  Timing for each individual may vary slightly due to his or her comfort level with our online courses.

The online course dates and time frames are developed based on the content of the course and the instructor’s timeframe to monitor the online course for questions.  

Self-paced is the ability for individuals to complete the course at your own pace and work schedule within the allotted time frame scheduled for each online course.

The International Critical Incident Stress Foundation is an approved provider for NAADAC (National Association for Substance Abuse Counselors) and EAPA/EACC.

University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Dept. of Emergency Health Services and Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) offers generic non-profession CEUs on the certificate of completion (1 CE for every 10 contact hrs.).  Please refer to our course descriptions page for information on how many CEU’s are offered for each online course.

Once the instructor for the online course has completed the grading of all of the discussion posts and you have reached 75% or better, you will receive directions via email on how to download your certificate of completion.

Once you have completed all of the requirements of the online course and received a grade of 75% or better, you will be able to print your certificate of completion from the general page of the online course.

When you register for an online course, you will receive an enrollment confirmation via email with login instructions and a how-to-login PDF.

The online courses are run through the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS).  You must be comfortable with your computer and a LMS before your register for each ICISF online course.  Learn more information on our Online Course Terms and Conditions page.
