Athletic Trainers are certified and licensed health care professionals specializing in the prevention and care of injuries and medical conditions in active people. Athletic Trainers are employed by scholastic, university and professional athletic programs as well as the performing arts, industrial, hospital and clinical practice venues. It is not uncommon for the Athletic Trainer to be exposed to traumatic events involving the athletes with whom they work on a daily basis including significant injury or death.

Pre-incident Training and Collaboration as Evidenced the Aftermath of the Las Vegas Shooting

ICISF World Congress Lead Presenter: Johanna O’Flaherty – Psychologist, Crisis Manager, J.F. Recovery, LLC Prior to the Las Vegas shooting I had the privilege of training over 200 first responders on the CISM protocols. Multiple teams were mobilized in the immediate aftermath and worked very efficiently with MHPs and other responders from outside areas. Lessons learned is that it is imperative that we’re all working from the same page and philosophy in the aftermath of a disaster.
