Lake MDiv., CGW, CRTS, Fuzzy

Fuzzy Lake, MDiv., CGW, CRTS, has worked extensively in Crisis Intervention and Grief Counseling. He currently is co-owner of Lake CISM, LLC. He has been working with first responders for over 30 years. He served on the Indiana State Police CISM team for nine years. Fuzzy and a colleague founded the East Central Indiana CISM team in 2002. In the beginning it was two team members and they covered one county. They now have 53 team members and cover 7 counties. Fuzzy has a passion for working with first responders, those who are in high stress jobs, and people who want to help others through crisis and grief. Fuzzy has a master’s degree in Addiction Intervention and Grief Counseling, along with being certified in Professional Chaplaincy, Grief Work, CISM, and is a Religious Trauma Specialist.

Fuzzy is a trained trainer in Managing School Crisis, From Theory to Application, Assisting Individuals in Crisis, both Basic and Advanced, Group Crisis Intervention, and the two-day Peer Para-Counseling Class.

Fuzzy is currently working on getting credentialed to teach the new Pastoral Crisis Intervention: Psychological and Faith-Based Crisis Intervention two-day course.

Fuzzy has also worked very hard at developing an Intervention called HELPS in Crisis. (Helping Employees Learn Practical Solutions in Crisis.) It is an intervention that meets the needs of both individuals and/or groups to help reduce compassion fatigue and cumulative stress.  It was designed originally to work well with healthcare and hospice; however it has proven to be effective in all other stressful workplaces.

Just recently, Fuzzy and a colleague (JoAnn Fiorello) developed a one-day training for churches and communities called “Crisis and Grief in the Church (Community). How can we help?”. It is designed to teach church and community peers to help know what to say and what not to say to those that are experiencing crisis and grief in their life. And to offset some of the work of the pastoral staff.

Fuzzy currently resides in South Carolina with his spouse of 39 years, his two children and six grandchildren who reside nearby.
