Dr. Lindi Holt, PhD, NRP, NCEE, CCISM, completed her paramedic training in 1984 from Eastern Kentucky University and obtained an A.S. degree in Emergency Medical Care. She earned her B.S. degree in 1986 from Eastern Kentucky University in Education and Sports Medicine. Having attended University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), she earned her M.S. in EMS Education in 1988. Dr. Holt graduated in 2006 from Capella University with her PhD in Education with a graduate certificate in online training. She has worked in both rural and urban EMS systems in Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland, and Indiana. In 1996, Lindi graduated as valedictorian from City of Lawrence Fire Department reserve recruit class, where she still works as a paramedic. Professionally, she has served on the State of Indiana EMS Education Committee, the EMS Working Group, and as a member of the Board of Directors for the National EMS Educator’s Credentialing Service (NEMSEC). She is an active member of the National Association of EMS Educator’s (NAEMSE), serving as a Board Member and current Treasurer. She is a regular presenter at State and National Conferences. Lindi has served as a site visitor for the CoAEMSP and ABHES, both accrediting organizations for EMS Programs. She also was a key founder of the organization CISM Indiana, Inc., which provides education and stress reduction services to public safety & healthcare personnel and is recognized as an instructor for Critical Incident Stress Management Team training courses.
Lindi was invited to assist with implementation of a new Community Paramedic Program in March of 2019 at Hendricks Regional Health, where she continues to serve. The Hendricks Community Paramedicine program was awarded the Specialty Provider of the Year Award by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and a finalist for the Indianapolis Business Journal Healthcare Hero Award. Lindi assisted with all aspects of the program formation and was key to introducing the concept to the medical and public safety communities. Previously, she had assumed the role of Paramedic Program Director at Ascension St. Vincent in June of 2014, after serving as a faculty member for four years, and appointed as EMS Education Program Manager in September of 2014. Dr. Holt was appointed the Dean of Operations, St. Vincent College of Health Professions in January 2015, where she had a primary role in obtaining accreditation for the College through the Department of Education. She previously served as a Program Director for 10 years at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana and served as a faculty member for 12 years at the same facility prior to that appointment. In 2018, she was awarded the EMS Instructor of the Year award by the Indiana EMS Association.
In addition to her local and national paramedic licenses, Lindi is credentialed as a national EMS Educator and serves as national faculty for the Advanced Concepts EMS Educator Course (IC-2) and is an approved instructor for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation in Group Intervention, Individual Peer Support, the Psychological Body Armor course and the Peer Para-counseling Course. She served as team coordinator for the Methodist Hospital CISM Team, a large local trauma center, during her tenure at the hospital. Lindi has responded to multiple Line of Duty Deaths, the Indiana State Fair Collapse, 911 Building Collapse, severe flooding in Kentucky, and most recently, the Fed Ex shooting in Indianapolis. Currently, Dr. Holt serves on multiple CISM teams in Indiana and has found her interests reside with Line of Duty Death for spouses and families as well as pre-incident education programs for healthcare and public safety personnel.
