Richard J. Ottenstein, Ph.D., CEAP, CTS Biography

Dr. Ottenstein is the Chief Executive Officer of the Workplace Trauma Center. He has over 45 years experience in the mental health field, and 25 years experience providing workplace trauma training and intervention services. Dr. Ottenstein is a licensed Psychologist, a Certified Employee Assistance Professional, a Certified Trauma Specialist and a member of the faculty of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF). Dr. Ottenstein developed a course titled “Corporate Crisis Response: Critical Incident Stress Management in the Workplace” which is offered by the ICISF on their national conference circuit. In addition to his services to business and industry, Dr. Ottenstein is the co-author of the book “Supporting a Grieving Workforce”. Dr. Ottenstein is a former Chair of the Central Maryland Chapter of the American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Team and had served with the Red Cross on numerous national and local disasters. He is also a volunteer with the Carroll County, Maryland Fire Department Critical Incident Team and is a the clinical coordinator of that team. Dr. Ottenstein previously served as the designated on-site support professional for the National Transportation Safety Board. He directs a program of distance counseling support for journalists in the Middle East. Beth L. Hewett, PhD, CT, CEOLS Biography

Dr. Beth L. Hewett is a Certified Thanatologist with the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). She also is a Certified End of Life Specialist, a Certified Grief Movement Specialist, and a Certified Pet Loss Specialist; additionally, Dr. Hewett holds a Death and Grief Studies Certificate from the Center for Loss and Life Transition and was a commissioned National Catholic Ministry for the former Bereaved, Inc. (NCMB) Minister of Consolation Trainer. She is a public speaker and facilitator of grief support groups, bereavement seminars and retreats, and writing workshops; she works with the bereaved individually as a grief coach and companion. Dr. Hewett also is the author of More Good Words: Practical Activities for Mourning and Good Words: Memorializing Through a Eulogy. Her website is available at www.goodwordsforgrieving.com.
